Considering a job in fashion? Design jobs are always an option!

Being in the fashion industry is stressful at the moment. There is a recession on and lots of people have opted against spending their disposable income in favour of saving for potentially tough time ahead. For the fashion industry and the effect on the number of fashion jobs in the UK and in Europe, it would be correct to say that this an industry that has been effected. Those effected the most are those new grad’s coming out of university and finding that the fashion employers are simply not hiring as many as new grads as they were a number of years ago. This makes the job search all that more nerve-racking as job seekers are needing to compete against each other all that much more for few job roles out there. The fashion jobs arena is no different and of all the fashion vacancies to be competing for, – designer jobs are going to be the hardest to get.

Design jobs are proving the most infamous or notoriously difficult to secure as fashion houses are hanging onto their existing staff and HR policy now is that they are employing the best designer candidates as they can afford. So if you are a designer and looking for a design jobs in Europe or the UK, then you need to either have vast fashion design jobs experience or, you need to have been at the top of your fashion school class. Added to that you need to have a good and very pro-active job search which involves most graduates being removed from the comfort zone. Job search is turning professional, so don’t be surprised if you need to throw a little money to having your CV professionally written.
